The provider network is a cornerstone of providing excellent care and in controlling costs. HDP works hard to maintain strong, positive relationships with the provider community in order to obtain the best outcomes for patients and employers alike. We work with providers to secure discounts and to promote evidence-based approaches to care. We are engaged in an ongoing effort to identify high-performing providers and to develop Care Management programs that improve clinical and cost outcomes.

• Contract negotiations
• Websites and directories, listing hospitals, physicians and ancillary services
• Ongoing network management

Network discounts provide one of several necessary steps in controlling healthcare costs. Discounts reduce the cost per unit. They do not reduce the rate of increase of costs. To achieve a reduction in the rate of increase, an effective Care Management program must be in place.
